In the original event, look around and inside Dream Island caves, then use Rock Smash on red crystal clusters. Nintendo Life reports caves on every Dream Island, so a specific rare doll was not required for this collection loop.
Plan one complete island visit
Take food and clear inventory space before leaving. Work through the cave branches once, mark the paths you have checked, and return with the fragments. This is a planning suggestion; this site has not measured a fastest route or a guaranteed yield.
Revisiting does not refill the same island
Nintendo Life's Dream Island guide states that only one island type can be visited per day and that gathered materials do not respawn on same-day revisits. Do not plan unlimited fragment loops by repeatedly leaving and returning. The ended event window remains a separate restriction.
